BethanyKids is a medical mission offering specialized surgical care and rehabilitation to children with disabilities and other pediatric conditions that require surgical treatment. It was launched in 2001 to transform the lives of children through pediatric surgery, rehabilitation, public education, spiritual ministry, and training of health care professionals. Bethany Kids is staffed by an interdisciplinary and multinational team of surgeons, nurses, therapists, chaplains, and others dedicated to meeting the physical and spiritual needs of children with disabilities and other pediatric conditions.
In Kenya, Bethany Kids operates the Bethany Kids Children’s Centre (BKCC), an in-patient facility dedicated to holistic care. It includes a clinic area, two operating rooms, an area for physical rehabilitation, and access to the AIC Kijabe Hospital for other services. In addition to BKCC, Bethany Kids operates 17 mobile clinics across Kenya to provide follow up care and neuro screening; offers rehabilitative services, including physiotherapy and occupational therapy to students at the Joytown Special Primary School in Thika; and serves as the first training center in East Africa to be accredited by the College of Surgeons of East, Central, and Southern Africa for residents in pediatric surgery.
